Welcome to the...

Coaster Con 48 Video Contest

Rules and Procedures

Your video contest submissions just seem to get better and better every year.
We can't wait to see what you have for us this year!
The ACE Coaster Con Video Contest is open to all current members in good standing of the American Coaster Enthusiasts. While attendance at Coaster Con is highly recommended, it is not required to enter the contest.
Each participating entrant may submit up to two (2) videos in each category of the competition: Standard and Short-Form.

Deadline:

All video contest submissions must be received no later than 11:59 p.m. (EDT) on Thursday June 4, 2026. Electronic submission links or files should be sent to lfillion@aceonline.org. Entries received after the deadline will not qualify for entry.

Rules:
  • Each video entry must be roller coaster related. Entries that do not predominantly feature past, present or future real world roller coasters will not be accepted.
  • No point-of-view (POV) or reverse POV footage (video or still) captured while onboard any roller coaster may be included in any entry, whatsoever. This includes POV footage that is obtained under park supervision or with park consent.
  • Off-ride footage and footage from behind-the-scenes tours may be included in videos, provided they have been captured from publicly accessible areas or while under park supervision.
  • The content of each video must be suitable for viewing by all ages.
  • Each video contest entry must be original and the intellectual property of the entrant. All entries must be recorded and edited (if applicable) by or at the discretion of the entrant.
  • Music and narration may be included in video contest entries.
  • Video contest participants may appear in their own video; however, they must not identify themselves as a contest entrant in any way.
  • Use of ride simulations (i.e. Planet Coaster/No Limits 2) and footage created using Artificial Intelligence (AI) is strongly discouraged and if either are used, their usage must be kept minimal, as they do not reflect the spirit of the video contest.
  • All computer-generated imagery and/or animations must be original and not copied from park or manufacturer videos.
  • Use of social media branded clips (i.e. Tik-Tok, Snapchat, etc.) is not permitted.
  • Each video must be no more than four minutes in length. While there is no specific minimum length, videos shorter than one minute must be entered into the Short-Form category. Videos over one minute in length must be entered into the Standard category.
  • A three-to-five-second title card is required before and after the body of the video. This title card should contain only the title and category of the video and does not count against video length restrictions (i.e., four minutes plus both title cards is acceptable). (Formatting tip: Video entries presented in landscape orientation provide a maximum visual impact.)
  • Each video must be entered into one of two categories: Standard or Short-Form, depending on the length of the video as listed above. Final category assignment is at the discretion of the video contest coordinator.
  • Videos may be submitted by means of Google, WeTransfer.com, etc. The name, email address and membership number of the entrant must accompany each submission, either in the body of the submission email or as a text file.
  • Entrants are required to submit an up-to-date photograph of themselves with their submission, which may be used when awarding the winners of the video contest.
  • Entrants are required to contact the video contest coordinator to ensure that their submission was received. The contest coordinator will respond once the video is received and may request changes to the work if contest regulations have not been met.
Procedures:
  • All entries meeting the above requirements will be shown during the video contest at the time and location specified by the official Coaster Con schedule, which will be distributed to all attendees at the start of the convention. As with all event activities, this information is subject to change, and in such an instance, due notice will be given through various announcements.
  • Convention attendees may indicate on their ballots their choices for first, second and third place in each category. Each first-place vote will earn three points; each second-place vote will earn two points and each third-place vote will earn one point. No video may be voted for more than once on any single ballot; any such action will render the ballot invalid. The three entries with the greatest number of votes in each category will be awarded first, second and third place, respectively.
  • If the total number of Video Contest entries received is six or less, all videos will be adjudicated collectively (Standard and Short-Form) following the same scoring process indicated above, with a total of three contest winners.
  • In the event of a first, second or third place tie, each winner will be awarded a plaque and the title will be shared mutually.
  • Winning entrants will be announced during the annual Coaster Con Banquet, with winning videos being screened (either in whole or in part) at the discretion of the banquet organizers. Award plaques will be presented to each winning entrant, and winning videos may be posted online. (Should a winning entrant not be in attendance, effort will be made to deliver their award plaque via mail, courier or a fellow ACE member.)
  • Entrants retain all copyright on their work. However, after the contest, all entries in the contest become the physical property of ACE, and ACE retains the right to use the material or any part thereof for ACE’s benefit and for its proprietary purposes. Entrants should keep a copy of their work for their own archives.
  • Reasonable care and precaution will be taken with all entries; however, neither ACE nor its representatives are responsible for lost, damaged or stolen videos. It is recommended that you bring additional copies of your work with you to the convention (if you are attending) in case there are any technical or other problems with your entry.
  • The ACE president, events director and/or video contest coordinator reserve the right to revise the contest rules and regulations at any time and the interpretation of these rules by the video contest coordinator is final.
  • Please contact the video contest coordinator should you have any questions or comments. The coordinator of the video contest is Luke Fillion. He may be contacted via email at lfillion@aceonline.org or by text/voicemail at (905) 921-9495.
