Because my husband and I have done Wild Adventures before, we are staying at a hotel about an hour north of the park. It's convenient to our route to and from the event, so that's the most practical thing for us. For reference, we're staying just off I-75 in Tifton, GA. There aren't a lot of great hotel options close to the park, but, there are some good options close to the interstate.
For the Family Kingdom event, since we're only coming in for the event and then heading toward home, we're staying in West Myrtle Beach. Again, we chose hotel based on its position relative to our route in and out. If you want to make a weekend of it and spend time in Myrtle Beach there are so many good places to stay along the beach. I recommend looking through photos and reviews of any place you consider, because, like all beach accommodations, there are those that are really good and those that are really not.
If, like us, you're only going to pop in for the event and don't plan to spend time on the beach, you can choose your favorite chain hotel to the west of town and it will greatly reduce cost.
