  • 1.  Which deal would you take for your home park?

    So, with Black Friday in the books and Cyber Monday just around the corner, I thought I'd create an imaginary sale for your home park. Which of the following specials would you take? Keep in mind you can only pick one.

    1. A new top of the line thrill coaster.
    2. A collection of five flat rides (a couple of them being more modern and thrill oriented)
    3. A collection of three relocated coasters, they may not be the newest, but they are still fine, one of them being a family and the other two being more exciting.
    4. Redo your front entrance and retheme one of the lands/areas.
    5. Seriously upgrade the food in terms of quality and variety. Even add a new eating location. Food that rivals Dollywood or Silver Dollar City.

    So which do you pick? Which one helps your home park the most?

    For my home park, Kings Island, I'm going for #1. Next summer will be 6 years since Orion opened, so a new major coaster is overdue. That empty Vortex plot of land is screaming, "Coaster me!!"

    Vortex's old home is begging for something, whatever goes there will be a focus point, want to make sure it's something truly noteworthy. Netter to wait a.bit and get something truly epic than rush an a lesser coaster in that spot.

    I felt this response IN MY SOUL. That poor plot of land has been sitting there for far too long, and it makes me sad whenever I see it. 

    I would also be fine with number 4, because then we’d have a state of the art entrance, probably with a coaster in front a la Gatekeeper or Fury. KI’s entrance has needed an update for a bajillion years.

    I know Vortex what at the end of it's service life, but that empty plot of land just seems to remind us of what we lost... Time for something to fill that void, I get that.

    But a new and improved entrance can really enhance the entire park experience, it really sets the tone. From the quaint entrance of Silver Dollar City, to Fury flying around and even under to the key holes and agate Keeper an entrance can truly take a park to the next level!

    Kings Island is quite possibly the most well rounded park I have had the pleasure of visiting, but it would really benefit from a new entrance.

    SO not fair! A few items are needed at CP.

    I'll go with Relocated Coasters. Preservation is  what I consider to be the most important activity ACE supports. Let's not lose the good stuff!

    However, bringing back the Flat Rides to CP would help families with kids have a great introduction to the park (and let the youngsters work their way up to thrill rides). Yes. CP dumped them due to low capacity but we'll wait for any ride.

    And yet Food has gone downhill. Or off a cliff! Silver Dollar Cafe was so impressive . Now the CP is mediocre at best. And leasing out space to chain restaurants?  TTerrible! And they add on insult by leasing space to companies known for bigotry which is offensive to a marginalized community who are customers of CP. 

    Good choices Mr. Reed but Preservation should be our number 1 priority.

    Lol, glad you enjoyed the question!

    I like how you took it in a different direction than I ever thought about when I came up with it. I figured most people would have to debate between what they personally would want or what they would consider actually best for the park. You took it right back to our core principle... Preservation! 

    I absolutely love it! Bolster Cedar Point and save some coasters at the same time. That's a win-win-win! The park, the coasters, and those who love both!
